Managing the COVID19 Crisis

Shut it down. Those words, much like everyone else, caught us and the world by surprise. A new global pandemic was at our doorstep and seemingly overnight, valuable commodities were no longer stocks and bonds but rather toilet paper, masks and hand sanitizer. Terms like "social distancing" and " COVID19"became part of our every day vernacular and no industry was hit harder than the restaurant industry. Bustling buildings became ghost towns overnight. At DoveCote we had one of two choices: panic or adapt. We chose the latter.

Our patrons count on us for our food and the ambiance. With the experience no longer an option during the pandemic, our focus turned to the food. Executive Orders by Florida's governor limited restaurants to curbside pick-up or delivery. That presented quite a problem. As a fine dining restaurant located in downtown Orlando, where the ambiance is as much a part of the DoveCote experience as the food, we didn't offer curbside pick-up or delivery. We had the occasional phone order for takeout but leaving customers on-hold with limited staffing to manage multiple phone lines wasn't going to work. Working with ouragency partners we leapt into action and did something we thought wasn't possible: create an e-commerce platform for our customers.

Our executive chef crafted a special online menu, we created a safe, contactless curbside pick-up model and our own staff delivered DoveCote meals around town. The response was overwhelming. With immense gratitude, we thank everyone who ordered from us during this trying time. You helped keep our kitchens going, our staff working and our management team preparing for the day when we could finally welcome you back into our restaurant. That day is here and we are so happy to say, "Welcome to DoveCote."

This new location will allow us to further enhance that vision and better serve our community.” In the past seven-plus years, DoveCote has hosted more than 1,700 events and served more than 300,000 guests for private and open to the public events, as well as brunch, lunch, dinner, and Happy Hour.
